In Chinese restaurants, there are always many round dinning tables which have tablecloths cover the top and go down to the floor. When I was a child, I always sneak into the space under the table. It was a weird and interesting experience which felt  like staying underwater. The shape of the space that I built is inspired by “the negative space”  under the table. People sit around the table, and their legs engaged in the cylindrical space. When I was under the table, I  could see people’s legs and feet closely, even the dirt on their shoes, so I used magnifying lenses to express this experience. Besides, the distorted effect brought by magnifying lenses also tell audiences the insecurity caused by the outside in the childhood. I chose white because I want to have a subtlety, moreover, the magnifying lenses have already brought many elements from the outside.
The audiences can see the inside of the spaces through lenses, and they also can see the outside with distortion. In addition, the they can also see the distorted image of other audience through the lenses from some specific perspectives, so there are relationships between space and people, interior and exterior and one with another audience.
